The True God

The True God is a title that sets the God of Scripture apart from every false god, idol, and human invention. Throughout the Bible, the Father is called the true God, and the Son shares that same divine identity, being revealed as the full and perfect revelation of God Himself.

God: But the LORD is the true God; He is the Living God and eternal King.  (Jer. 10:10)

Jesus: And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true—in His Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life. (1 John 5:20)

God: For they themselves report what kind of welcome you gave us, and how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God and to await His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead—Jesus our deliverer from the coming wrath. (1 Thess. 1:9-10)

Jesus Christ is not merely a representative of truth-He is “the true God and eternal life,” the One in whom reality, faithfulness, and fullness of God are made known. In a world filled with counterfeit worship and shifting beliefs, Scripture points to the Lord alone as the living and true God, worthy of all trust, worship, and obedience.
