Ruler
“Ruler” declares the sovereign authority of God and of Jesus Christ over all creation. Scripture reveals that God reigns supreme over heaven, earth, nations, and kings, accomplishing His purposes with perfect wisdom and power.
God: The LORD reigns forever and ever!” (Ex. 15:18)
Jesus: The LORD said to my Lord: “Sit at My right hand until I make Your enemies a footstool for your feet.” The LORD extends Your mighty scepter from Zion: “Rule in the midst of Your enemies. (Psa. 110:1-2)
God: For God is King of all the earth; sing to Him a song of praise. God reigns over the nations; God is seated on His holy throne. (Psa. 47:7)
Jesus: For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and the government will be upon His shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish and sustain it with justice and righteousness from that time and forevermore. (Isa. 9:6-7)
God: Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the splendor and the majesty, for everything in heaven and on earth belongs to You. Yours, O LORD, is the kingdom, and You are exalted as head overall. Both riches and honor come from You, and You are the ruler overall. In Your hands are power and might to exalt and give strength to all. (1 Chron. 29:12)
Jesus: I saw One like the Son of Man coming with the clouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient of Days and was led into His presence. And He was given dominion, glory, and kingship, that the people of every nation and language should serve Him. His dominion is an everlasting dominion that will not pass away, and His kingdom is one that will never be destroyed. (Dan. 7:13-14)
God: “O LORD, God of our fathers, are You not the God who is in heaven, and do You not rule over all the kingdoms of the nations? Power and might are in Your hand, and no one can stand against You. (2 Chron. 20:6)
Jesus: But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, who are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come forth for Me One to be ruler over Israel One whose origins are of old, from the days of eternity. (Micah 5:2-3)
God: Then I praised the Most High, and I honored and glorified Him who lives forever: “For His dominion is an everlasting dominion, and His kingdom endures from generation to generation. All the peoples of the earth are counted as nothing, and He does as He pleases with the army of heaven and the peoples of the earth. There is no one who can restrain His hand or say to Him, “What have You done?” (Dan. 4:34-35)
Jesus: Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. (Matt 28:18)
Jesus likewise is the King of kings whose kingdom will never end, the promised Ruler from the line of David. Though earthly rulers rise and fall, Christ reigns eternally with righteousness, authority, and peace. As Ruler, He guides His people, subdues His enemies, and rules with justice and mercy forever.
