Righteous and Just One
“Righteous and Just” reveals the perfect moral character of God and of Jesus Christ. Scripture declares that all God’s ways are righteous and all His judgments are true. He is perfectly holy in what He does and perfectly fair in how He judges. Jesus likewise is called the Righteous One, for He fulfilled the law without sin and judges with truth and mercy.
God: Then Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron. “This time I have sinned,” he said. "The LORD is righteous, and I and my people are wicked. (Ex. 9:27)
Jesus: For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and the government will be upon His shoulders…. His government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish and sustain it with justice and righteousness forever. (Isa. 9:6-7)
God: He is the Rock, His work is perfect; All His ways are just. A God of faithfulness without injustice, righteous and upright is He. (Deut. 32:4)
Jesus: “Here is My Servant, whom I uphold, My Chosen One, in whom My soul delights. I will put My Spirit on Him, and He will bring justice to the nations. (Isa. 42:1); and (Matt. 12:15-21)
God: So the leaders of Israel and the king humbled themselves and said, “The LORD is righteous." (2 Chron. 12:6)
Jesus: By His knowledge My righteous Servant will justify many and bear their iniquities. (Isa. 53:11)
God: O LORD, God of Israel, You are righteous! For we remain this day as a remnant. Here we are before You in our guilt, though because of it no one can stand before You.” (Ezra 9:15)
Jesus: the days are coming, declares the LORD, when I will raise up for David a righteous Branch, and He will reign wisely as King and will administer justice and righteousness in the land. In His days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell securely. And this is His name by which He will be called: The LORD Our Righteousness. (Jer. 23:5-6)
God: Put an end to the evil of the wicked, but establish the righteous, O righteous God who searches hearts and minds. (Psa. 7:9)
Jesus: You rejected the Holy and Righteous One and asked that a murderer be released. (Acts 3:14)
God: I will thank the LORD for His righteousness and sing praise to the name of the LORD Most High. (Psa. 7:17)
Jesus: Which of the prophets did your fathers fail to persecute? They even killed those who foretold the coming of the Righteous One. And now you are His betrayers and murderers-you who received the law ordained by angels, yet have not kept it.” (Acts 7:52-53)
God: And the heavens proclaim His righteousness, for God Himself is Judge. (Psa. 50:6)
Jesus: ‘The God of our fathers has appointed you to know His will, and to see the Righteous One, and to hear His voice. (Acts 22:14)
God: Your righteousness reaches to the heavens, O God, You who have done great things. Who, O God, is like You? (Psa. 71:19)
Jesus: For Christ also suffered for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit, (1 Peter 3:18).
God: Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne; loving devotion and faithfulness go before You. Blessed are those who know the joyful sound, who walk, O LORD, in the light of Your presence. (Psa. 89:14-15)
Holy Spirit: For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit. (Rom. 14:17)
God: The mountains melt like wax at the presence of the LORD, the heavens proclaim His righteousness: all the peoples see His glory. (Psa. 97:6)
Jesus: To those who through the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ have received a faith as precious as ours: (2 Peter 1:1).
God: The LORD is righteous in all His ways and kind in all His deeds. (Psa. 145:17)
Jesus: My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you will not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate before the Father—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world. (1 John 2:1-2)
God: But the LORD of Hosts will be exalted by His justice, and the holy God will show Himself holy in righteousness. (Isa. 5:16) “I, the LORD, have called you for a righteous purpose, and I will take hold of your hand. I will keep you and appoint you to be a covenant for the people and a light to the nations, (Isa. 42:6).
In a world filled with injustice and corruption, God remains the unchanging standard of righteousness, faithfully defending what is right and bringing perfect justice in His time.
