Redeemer
A redeemer is one who rescues, restores, and purchases back what was lost. Jesus fulfills this title perfectly through His sacrifice, redeeming humanity from sin and death by His blood.
God: Now this is what the LORD says—He who created you, O Jacob, and He who formed you, O Israel: “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; you are Mine! (Isa. 43:1)
Jesus: It is because of Him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God: our righteousness, holiness, and redemption. (1 Cor. 1:30)
God: Thus says the LORD your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “For your sake, I will send to Babylon and bring them all as fugitives, (Isa. 43:14).
Jesus: And this righteousness from God comes through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no distinction, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God and are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. (Rom. 3:22-23)
God: Thus says the LORD, the King and Redeemer of Israel, LORD of Hosts: "I am the first and the last. There is no God but Me. (Isa. 44:6)
Jesus: Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us. For it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree.” He redeemed us in order that the blessing promised to Abraham would come to the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit. (Gal. 3:13-14)
God: Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer who formed you from the womb: “I am the LORD who has made all things, who alone stretched out the heavens, who by Myself spread out the earth, (Isa. 44:24).
Jesus: But when the time had fully come, God sent His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those under the law, that we might receive our adoption as sons. And because you are sons, God sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying out, “Abba, Father!” So you are no longer a slave, but a son; and since you are a son, you are also an heir through God. Gal. 4:4-7)
God: Thus says the LORD your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “I am the LORD your God, who teaches you for your benefit, who directs you in the way you should go. (Isa. 48:17)
Jesus: In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace that He lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding. (Eph. 1:7) God: the LORD of Hosts is His name—the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer; He is called the God of all the earth. (Isa. 54:5)
Jesus: For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life you inherited from your forefathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or spot. (1 Peter 1:18-19)
God: In a surge of anger, I hid My face from you for a moment, but with everlasting kindness I will have compassion on you,” says the LORD your Redeemer. (Isa. 54:8)
Jesus: We await the blessed hope and glorious appearance of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ. He gave Himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for Himself a people for His own possession, zealous for good deeds. (Titus 2:13-14)
God: Then his father Zechariah was filled with the Holy Spirit and prophesied: "Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, because He has visited and redeemed His people. (Luke 1:68)
“Redeemer” is one of the Bible’s most comforting titles for God and Christ. As Redeemer, Jesus does not merely forgive; He restores what was broken and brings His people back into fellowship with God.
