Mighty God is a powerful title given to Jesus in prophecy, divine nature, strength and eternal authority. Foretold in Isa. 9:6, this name reveals that the coming Messiah would not be merely a teacher or earthly ruler, but God Himself manifested in power and majesty.
God: You show loving devotion to thousands but lay the iniquity of the fathers into the laps of their children after them, O great and mighty God whose name is the LORD of Hosts, (Jer. 32:17-18).
Jesus: For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and the government will be upon His shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. (Isa. 9:6)
As Mighty God, Jesus demonstrates authority over sin, sickness, nature, death, and every power of darkness. He is the victorious Savior, the defender of His people, and the all-powerful King whose strength never fails.
