Horn of Salvation
In biblical symbolism, a horn represents power, victory, and kingly authority. Through Christ, God provided a Savior strong enough to defeat sin, overcome darkness, and bring redemption to all who call upon Him.
God: “The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer. My God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation. My stronghold, my refuge, and my Savior, You save me from violence. (2 Sam. 22:3) and (Psa. 18:2)
Jesus: Then his father Zechariah was filled with the Holy Spirit and prophesied: “Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, because He has visited and redeemed His people. He has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of His servant David, as He spoke through His holy prophets, those of ages past. (Luke 1:67)
We know that the horn of salvation spoken by Zechariah is Jesus because Jesus is the fulfilling of God’s promise that the Messiah would arise from David’s house. Jesus came from the lineage of King David. The prophecy says God “raised up” salvation for His people. Jesus is the mighty savior-the “Horn of Salvation” who was coming into the world.
