His Love
God’s love is one of the greatest truths revealed throughout Scripture. His love is not merely an emotion or a feeling—it is faithful, enduring, selfless, and unchanging. From the beginning, God has shown His love toward humanity, and He demonstrated it most fully through Jesus Christ. His love reaches beyond our failures and offers forgiveness, hope and eternal life to those who believe in Him.
God: Know therefore that the LORD your God is God, the faithful God who keeps His covenant of loving devotion for a thousand generations of those who love Him and keep His commandments. (Deut. 7:9)
Jesus: But to those of you who will listen, I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. If someone strikes you on one cheek, turn to him the other also. And if someone takes your cloak, do not withhold your tunic as well. Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what is yours, do not demand it back. Do to others as you would have them do to you. If you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do the same. And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, expecting to be repaid in full. But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them, expecting nothing in return. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for He is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. (Luke 6:27-34)
God: Your loving devotion, O LORD, reaches to the heavens, Your faithfulness to the clouds. (Psa. 36:5)
Jesus: Jesus said, "A new commandment I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you also must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are My disciples, if you love one another.” (John 13:34-35)
God: and the hills may be shaken, My loving devotion will not depart from you, and My covenant of peace will not be broken,” says the LORD, who has compassion on you. (Isa. 54:10)
Jesus: Whoever has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me. The one who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and reveal Myself to him.” (John 14:21)
God: Because of the loving devotion of the LORD we are not consumed, for His mercies never fail. (Lam. 3: 22)
Jesus: As the Father has loved Me, so have I loved you. Remain in My love. If you keep My commandments, you will remain in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and remain in His love. I have told you these things so that My joy may be in you and your joy may be complete. This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. (John 15:9-13)
God: Jesus declared, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” (Matt. 22:37-40)
Jesus: Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or distress or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: “For Your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor principalities, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Rom. 8:35-39)
God: For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that everyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)
Jesus: The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me. (Gal. 2:20)
God: But God proves His love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Rom. 5:8)
Jesus: Therefore if you have any encouragement in Christ, if any comfort from His love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any affection and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like minded, having the same love, being united in spirit and purpose. (Phil. 2:1-2)
God: But because of His great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in our trespasses. (Ephes. 2:4)
Jesus: so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. Then you, being rooted and grounded in love, will have power, together with all the saints, to comprehend the length and width and height and depth of the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. (Ephes. 3:17-19)
God: But because of His great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in our trespasses. (Ephes. 2:4)
Holy Spirit: And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out His love into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, whom He has given us. (Rom. 5:5)
God: Beloved, let us love one another, because love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. This is how God’s love was revealed among us: God sent His one and only Son into the world, so that we might live through Him. And love consists in this: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as the atoning sacrifice or our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God remains in us, and His love is perfected in us. (1 John 4:7-12)
Holy Spirit: Now I urge you, brothers, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit to join me in my struggle by praying to God for me. (Rom. 15:30)
God: And we have come to know and believe the love that God has for us. God is love; whoever abides in love abides in God, and God in him. In this way, love has been perfected among us, so that we may have confidence on the day of judgment; for in this world we are just like Him. There is no fear in love, but perfect love drives out fear, because fear involves punishment. The one who fears has not been perfected in love. We love because He first loved us. (1 John 4:16-19)
God’s love is beyond measure and cannot be exhausted by our failures or circumstances. It is a love that pursues, forgives, saves, and remains faithful forever. Through Jesus, we see the depth of God’s love made known to us. As we understand His love more fully, may we trust Him more deeply and share that same love with others.
