Glory in the Lord

Glory belongs to the Lord. His glory reveals His majesty, holiness, power, and divine nature, and He alone is worthy of praise and honor. The Old Testament repeatedly calls God’s people to glorify the Lord—to recognize Him as the source of their salvation, strength, wisdom, and hope. Yet the New Testament reveals that “the glory belonging to God is also revealed in Jesus Christ. In Him, the glory of God is made known, demonstrating that Jesus is not merely a servant of God, but shares in the divine glory that belongs to God alone. These passages show that to glory in the Lord is ultimately to recognize and honor Jesus Christ in the glory that He shares with the Father.

God: Ascribe to the LORD the glory due His name; worship the LORD in the splendor of His holiness.
(Psa. 29:2)

God: ‍ ‍Glory in His holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the LORD rejoice.
(1 Chron. 16:10)

God: Give glory to the LORD your God before He brings darkness, before your feet stumble on the dusky mountains.
(Jer. 13:16)

Jesus:  “Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!"
(Luke 19:38)

Jesus: to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
(Ephes. 3:21)

Jesus:‍ ‍grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory, now and to the day of eternity.
(2 Pet. 3:18)

The Scriptures leave no doubt that the Lord alone is worthy of glory, honor, ad praise. What is revealed of God’s glory throughout the Old Testament, is beautifully and powerfully revealed in Jesus Christ. He is the One through whom God’s glory is made known, and He receives the honor and glory that belong to God. Therefore, when we glory in the Lord, we are not merely acknowledging what God has done—we are recognizing who He is. Jesus Christ is worthy of the same glory, honor, and praise, because He shares the divine nature and the glory of God. To glory in the Lord is to glorify Christ, giving Him the honor that belongs to Him forever.
