Comforter
God comforts us as no one else can. When there is no one else, we are not alone.
God: In that day you will say: “O LORD, I will praise You. Although You were angry with me, Your anger has turned away, and You have comforted me. (Isa. 12:1)
Jesus: For just as the sufferings of Christ overflow to us, so also through Christ our comfort overflows. (2 Cor. 1:5-7)
God: to proclaim the year of the LORD’s favor and the day of our God’s vengeance, to comfort all who mourn, (Isa. 61:2).
Jesus: Therefore, if you have any encouragement in Christ, if any comfort from His love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any affection and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being united in spirit and purpose. (Phil. 2:1)
God: Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. (2 Cor. 1:3-4)
Jesus: Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself and God our Father, who by grace has loved us and given us eternal comfort and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good word and deed. (2 Thess. 2:16)
God comforts us like our own parent loves and comforts us. He cares about us in a way that far surpasses our own ability to love. This is a small sampling of passages that teach of the comfort of a loving God, and likewise, Jesus has His Father’s nature.
