The Words of the Lord

The Words of the Lord carry divine authority, truth and power. Throughout Scripture, God’s words are described as trustworthy, enduring and life-giving. Yet the New Testament reveals that Jesus also speaks with this same divine authority, commanding, teaching, promising, and declaring truth. As we examine these passages together, we see a remarkable connection between the words spoken by Jesus, pointing us to His divine identity.

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. I have sworn and confirmed that I   will keep Your righteous judgments. I am severely afflicted, O LORD; revive me through Your word.
(Psa. 119:105-107)

The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God stands forever."
(Isa. 40:8)

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for instruction, for conviction, for correction, and for training in righteousness,
(2 Tim 3:16).

For the word of God is living and active. sharper than any double-edged sword, it pierces even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow.
(Heb. 4:12)

Jesus: Heaven and earth will pass away, but My  words will never pass away.
(Mark 13:31)

Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.
(Matt 7:24)

Holy Spirit no prophecy of Scripture comes from one's own interpretation or the will of man, but men spoke from God by the Holy Spirit.
(2 Pet. 1:20)

Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
(Col. 3:16)

The words of the Lord are not ordinary words. They carry the authority of God, reveal His truth, and accomplish His purposes. When we hear Jesus speaking with divine authority, giving commands, making promises, and declaring eternal truth, we are given another powerful testimony to who His is. His words are trustworthy and everlasting because the One who speaks them is worthy of our complete faith, obedience, and trust.
