The Word

God: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (John 1:1)

Jesus: The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us.   (John 1:14) That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our own eyes, which we have gazed upon and touched with our own hands—this is the Word of life.  (1 John 1:1)   Then I saw heaven standing open, and there before me was a white horse. And its rider is called Faithful and True. With righteousness He judges and wages war. He has eyes like blazing fire, and many royal crowns on His head. He has a name written on Him that only He Himself knows. He is dressed in a robe dipped in blood, and His name is The Word of God.    (Rev. 19:11-13)

In the opening of the Gospel of John, Jesus is revealed with a title that reaches beyond language and time—”The Word.” This is not merely a description of speech or communication, but a declaration that the eternal Son of God is the full expression of God Himself.

As the Word, Jesus is the one through whom all things were created, the one who reveals the Father, and the one who brings light into a world marked by darkness. To speak of Christ as the Word is to affirm that God has made His truth visible, knowable, and living—so that what God is like is not left to speculation but revealed in the person of Christ as recorded in the Gospel of John.
