Holy One
Holiness is not merely one attribute of God; it is the very essence of His nature. The Gospels, which is the setting of the Messiah, reveals that this same divine holiness is fully present in Jesus Christ. Jesus reflects this holiness of God in human form.
God: "I have set the LORD always before me. Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Therefore, my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will dwell securely. For You will not abandon my soul to Sheol, nor will You let Your Holy One see decay. (Psa. 16:8-10)
Jesus: But God raised Him from the dead, releasing Him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep Him in its grip. David says about Him: ‘I saw the Lord always before me; because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Therefore, my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will dwell in hope, because You will not abandon my soul to Hades, nor will You let Your Holy One see decay. (Acts 2:24-27)
God: Again and again they tested God and provoked the Holy One of Israel. They did not remember His power— the day He redeemed them from the adversary, (Psa. 78:41-42).
Jesus: The angel replied, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the Holy One to be born will be called the Son of God. (Luke 1:35)
God: Sing to the LORD, for He has done glorious things. Let this be known in all the earth. Cry out and sing, citizen of Zion, for great among you is the Holy One of Israel.” (Isa. 12:6)
Jesus: In the synagogue there was a man possessed by the spirit of an unclean demon. He cried out in a loud voice, “Ha! What do You want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have You come to destroy us? I know who You are—the Holy One of God!” But Jesus rebuked the demon. “Be silent!” He said. “Come out of him!” At this, the demon threw the man down before them all and came out without harming him. (Luke 4:33-35)
God: For the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel, has said: “By repentance and rest you would be saved; your strength would lie in quiet confidence—but you were not willing.” (Isa. 30:15)
Jesus: So Jesus asked the Twelve, "Do you want to leave too?" Simon Peter replied, "Lord, to whom would we go? You have the words of eternal life. We believe and know that You are the Holy One of God." (John 6:67-69)
God: I, the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior; give Egypt for your ransom, Cush and Seba in your place. (Isa. 43:3) Thus says the LORD your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “For your sake, I will send to Babylon and bring them all as fugitives, even the Chaldeans, in the ships in which they rejoice. I am the LORD, your Holy One, the Creator of Israel, and your King.” (Isa 43:14-15)
Jesus: You rejected the Holy and Righteous One and asked that a murderer be released to you. You killed the Author of life, but God raised Him from the dead, and we are witnesses. (Acts 3:14-15)
God: For your husband is your Maker—the LORD of Hosts is His name—the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer; He is called the God of all the earth. (Isa. 54:5) Are You not from everlasting, O LORD, my God, my Holy One? (Hab. 12:1) Thus says the LORD your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “I am the LORD your God, who teaches you for your benefit, who directs you in the way you should go. If only you had paid attention to My commandments, your peace would have been like a river, and your righteousness like waves of the sea. (Isa. 48:17-18)
